According to the ADP Small Business
Report, total private employment among small businesses (U.S. companies
with fewer than 50 employees) increased by 44,000 in August.
BNP Media, parent publisher of PM and Supply House Times, has announced the acquisition of the Professional Services Division of
Ascend Media, which includes the Food, Beverage and Packaging Group, and the
Gaming Group of magazines, conferences, websites and events.
The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) hired
Pete DeMarco as its new Director of Special Programs.
DeMarco will join IAPMO in November and is expected to develop new programs

Home Depot has completed the
sale of HD Supply to a group of three private equity firms for the final
price was $8.5 billion. It includes a portfolio of 11 businesses and the company will retain the HD Supply name.

Home Depot Inc. marked down the price of HD Supply by 18 percent over the
weekend as it offered other concessions to sell the construction supply business
for $8.5 billion, according to Reuters and Bloomberg.

Imperium
Renewables opened the company’s second biodiesel facility

Standard Companies Inc. announced that it has signed a definitive agreement
to sell the company’s worldwide Bath and Kitchen products business to funds
advised by Bain
Capital Partners, LLC, a leading global private investment firm, for $1.755
billion in cash.
