It was announced at Network ’07 in Anaheim, Calif., today that Lake
Coulson, vice president of governmental affairs for the
Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors-National Association, will be leaving the
group to head up legislative affairs for the National Electrical Contractors
Association.
The
state of Maine has adopted the latest edition of several National Fire
Protection Association fire and life safety codes, including NFPA 1, NFPA 13, NFPA
72, and NFPA 101.
The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials has
joined the Green Mechanical Council (GreenMech) as a Charter Member, and Riley
Sales has joined as a Helios Member.
AB 715 phase-in begins in 2010 and
requires an increasing percentage of models to be high efficiency during a
four-year period. It requires 100 percent by January 2014.
The American
Indoor Air Quality Council has announced that its certifications are
compliant with international standards for program operation developed by the
International Organization for Standardization.
The certification process consists of product testing to ensure high-efficiency
lavatory faucets consume no more than 1.5 gallons
per minute while meeting all performance requirements.
NSF International announced the development
of a new protocol that addresses the health impact and environmental protection
of septic tank and grease trap (solid and liquid) separating technology.
The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials announced the hiring of Dave Viola as director of special services. Prior to
joining IAPMO, Viola served as technical director for the Plumbing Manufacturers
Institute.
Plumbing industry members and trade press visited the new Chicagoland office of
the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) Sept.
6 as part of an open house celebration.
The National Standard Plumbing Code
Committee, at a recent public hearing, approved significant changes to the NSPC
related to food handling areas, grease interceptors, and identification of
potable and non-potable water.
The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) hired
Pete DeMarco as its new Director of Special Programs.
DeMarco will join IAPMO in November and is expected to develop new programs
to support green plumbing technology, products, systems and applications.
Underwriters Laboratories Inc. announces the additions of the
2006 International Plumbing Code, the 2006 Uniform Plumbing Code and the 2006
Uniform Mechanical Code to the Code Correlation Database.
IAPMO R&T is reducing the massive amounts of paperwork required during the
product listing process by converting all of its paper files to paperless
LaserFiche files.
The 2007 Uniform Plumbing
Code Report on Proposals and 2007 Uniform Mechanical Code Report on Proposals
are available now from the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical
Officials.
The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) will
host its 78th Annual Education and Business Conference at the iconic Flamingo
hotel and casino in Las Vegas, Sept. 23-27.
Commercial refrigeration manufacturers and energy-efficiency advocacy groups
recently announced that they reached a consensus agreement on the first-ever
federal energy-efficiency standards for commercial walk-in freezers and coolers
that, if enacted by Congress, will begin affecting the design of new equipment
in 2009.
The Plumbing
Manufacturers Institute is sponsoring Senate Bill 651 in the California
legislature in order to clarify Section 116875 of the Health and Safety Code,
the statute that was amended by the plumbing lead reduction law AB 1953.
The National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA) has reported that the International
Code Council offered growing support despite its rejection of
single-family fire sprinkler requirements for the International Residential Code
(IRC) supplement at a hearing held May 22 in Rochester, NY.
